How to Avoid Rogue SEO Agencies
Rogue SEO Agencies are prominent in the online world, some estimates show that over 20% of SEO agencies are in the rogue band, with a further 30% being dis-honest or over optimistic on targets. With these figures, the chances of throwing money at a failing service are quite probable. To avoid rogue SEO agencies, there are some common guidelines to follow. Even having a basic understanding of SEO can prevent you from being sold an unrealistic package or service.

The most common advertisements made by these agencies include:
"We guarantee top 10 placements"
"Number 1 rankings in 24 hours"
"Guaranteed number 1 rankings"
"We can build thousands of backlinks"
"We submit your website to thousands of search engines"

These are just some of the advertisements you can expect from an agency that does not have a proper service. SEO is a professional service that is delivered over a long time period. There is no guarantee's that your website can rank in the top 10, and backlinks can take years to acquire.

Rogue SEO agencies will often mis-report, miss-sell and mis-advertise the quality of their SEO, often making unrealistic claims in order to acquire more business. These practices can lead to expensive work being carried out that often has little or no return on investment. It is vital that these agencies are avoided from the beginning. The foundations for a good search engine optimisation service lay within the companies ability to perform SEO in the correct manner.

Any good SEO agency will rank well for SEO related keywords, agencies who do not rank well, often have a poorer quality of service, if they had a good service their own website would rank in a prominent position. Other SEO agencies will also make no promises, nor will any misleading claims be made in order to gain new business.

We do not guarantee top 10 listings, we do not submit your website to thousands of search engines, and we make no claims on backlink development. Our ethics are built from the results we achieve. We believe any good SEO company will demonstrate what they advertise. So avoid unnecessary expenses, and failed marketing campaigns by avoiding the too good to be true SEO agencies.

Rogue Agencies, Rogue Promises
Its easy to win new business with false promises. If you picture your website with 10,000 visitors a day, thousands of backlinks and a successful online presence, its an ideal picture for any online business. This promise is famous to rogue SEO agencies as they use slogans, imagery and examples of success, despite this information being inaccurate. This information is used to sell their service, which ultimately leads to the agency earning whilst the client loses out.

Rogue promises include promises for high rankings, huge traffic increases, masses of conversions, thousands of backlinks and much more. Although Good SEO agencies sometimes use these claims, rogue SEO agencies will have nothing to backup their claims.

Spending your budget
Any good SEO agency will offer an SEO service that is on a cost per requirement basis. Rogue SEO agencies will tend to adjust the campaign around your budget often maximising their own profit at your expense. This should never be the case, a good SEO firm will set a cost for a service in order to achieve the required results. If an agency offers to get good rankings whilst shrinking their costs, this is another sign of a company to be careful off.

Achieving rankings for competitive keywords can be an immense task, a good SEO agency will advise you of this, and will help to work alongside you to deliver the work at the same cost. Offering to do the work for less after assessing the work required is often a bad indication.

The work required will not change, so why would the cost? Any decreases in the costs can be seen as a way of keeping your business despite the task requiring the same amount of work.

Be cautious when taking an SEO service. If you suspect the agency to be a poor one, ask them for evidence and results to backup their claims. It is wise to ask them for some of the clients that they have done work for, review the websites of the clients to see just how the SEO worked for them. An SEO agency is only as good as the work that they do.
